Arm Balance Workshop with Aliza Stone
Arm balances are a uniquely empowering, mood-boosting part of the asana practice. They encourage confidence, discipline and mental acuity. They can also, however, be mystifying or intimidating when, for the practical sake of maintaining the pace and flow of a Vinyasa class, they are not specifically unpacked or instructed.
In this workshop, we will break down the fundamentals of a series of arm balances. Because these poses require both specific muscular engagement and mobility, we will go through a series of warm-ups relevant to each shape before moving through step-by-step demonstrations. We will also touch on the use of props and safe exit strategies to free you from the element of fear associated with this part of the practice.
This workshop will be designed to suit ALL levels – whether you have never lifted your toes off the ground in crow, or you're comfortable on your hands but want to take your arm balances to new depths with mid-flight transitions.
When: Friday, June 28th at 6:30-8:30PM
