Resident Mayor and House of Jai owner, Erin Fogel, is thrilled to be offering a two hour intensive journey into her favorite yoga pose-forearm stand! Also known as "feathered peacock pose", you'll find this way of going upside down is both liberating and thrilling. With limitless variations and modifications, this workshop is great for every level working toward a deeper adventure in going upside down.
There are work, family, and friend obligations that all need attention and in the end the holidays can feel more like a burden than a chance to relax.
Our session will enlist the skill of somatic awareness and combine active releases, passive yin/restorative poses, and Yoga Tune Up therapy ball massage techniques to hasten pain relief, induce relaxation and restore mobility.
Come with a playful spirit!
Stefanie Eris is a yoga teacher, teacher trainer, and retreat leader based in New York City. Born in Brooklyn, raised in Jersey, Stefanie grew up on stage singing, dancing, and acting. In 2003, she was introduced to yoga through a theatre conservatory and was instantly drawn in. Reflection and expression of the self through movement, sound, and silence seemed instinctual to her, like she was remembering something she'd forgotten more than learning something for the first time.
She received her certification at Laughing Lotus College of Yoga under the guidance of Dana Flynn and Jasmine Tarkeshi, and began teaching at Exhale Mind Body Spa soon after. From 2012 - 2016, Stefanie served as Exhale's National Yoga Director, and had the rich opportunity to train and teach with some of the counties most highly esteemed teachers. She has led classes of 1,000+ students in Bryant Park and presented at NYC's Yoga Journal Conference.
Stefanie's Vinyasa flow classes are heavily focused on breath, sweat, alignment, rhythm, and repetition. Her classes are both creative and intelligent, incorporating dynamic movements, fluid transitions, healing hands on assists, and thoughtful cues designed to take you on a journey deep into the depths of your being.
If you own a pair of Tune up balls, Please bring them. They're also available for purchase at House of Jai studio!

Warrior Flow and Sonic Relaxation with Adrian Molina and Dennis Hunter
Wall Workshop with Giulia Pline and Ariel Karass
Tensegrity is a concept in architecture and biology where a balance of tension and compression results in maximum efficiency and economy. Dr. Chris Barnes states: "Our bodies, modern architecture, and the universe itself are governed by laws of tensegrity. The body is not a rigid skeleton with muscles and ligaments attached. It's actually a delicate balance of tensile and compressive forces that hold all of the structures in perfect balance. When muscles become too strong or too weak, when ligaments are sprained, or when poor posture is the norm, we lose tensegrity. The loss of tensegrity is a leading cause of sports-related injuries and chronic pain syndromes. Whether it be an imbalance of the muscles, joints, diet, or lifestyle, restoring this balance is essential to healing.”
In this wall workshop, we will use the wall as a prop (in addition to blocks, blankets, and straps), and as a reference point to create tensegrity, stability, awareness, and integration in the body. We will create accessibility around several advanced postures including arm balances and inversions using tensegrity and the wall. Come and find out how to create and restore balance in your own unique body through your asana practice.

Breath Centered Practice in the Tradition of Desikachar and Krishnamacharya
Yoga practice in the tradition of Krishnamacharya and Desikachar exhibits many distinctive principles and practices not found in other Hatha Yoga lineages. Details of breath sequencing, coordination with movement and spinal action are just some of the subjects we will explore in this highly interactive, experiential and informative session.
Leslie will introduce these breath-centered teachings from a historical, scholarly and anatomical perspective while leading participants into a progressively deeper understanding of the vital forces at work in the human breathing mechanism during yoga practice.
This workshop is divided into two three-hour sessions which are evenly divided between breath-centered asana practice, lecture and discussion
